WIMBLEDON 2008 PREVIEW:

World No.1 and 5 time Wimbledon Champion Roger Federer will be aiming for a record sixth consecutive title at Wimbledon,one more than Tennis Legend Bjorn Borg.The amazing run by Federer at Wimbledon has taken him to the brink of history.Federer was last beaten on the grass courts of Wimbledon by Mario Ancic in the first round of 2002. Since then he has been undefeated here in 35 matches, winning 102 sets and losing just eight, and 671 games to 394.

After an incredible run last year no one would have ever imagined that Federer has to face more tough challengers this year.Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Mardy Fish, Andy Roddick & Radek Stepanek have all beaten the defending champion this year.Of all these challengers Nadal and Djokovic are considered as the greatest challengers.

Rafael Nadal may have beaten him in straight sets in the French Open but at Wimbledon, Federer has won the last two finals over Nadal.Even though after a disappointing start this year by Federer, he seems to be in good form at the grass court.Last week Federer won his 59th successive match on grass in the final at Halle, Germany.

Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal seems to be in great form on grass, this looks more threatening after his maiden grass court title at Artois beating Djokovic 7-6, 7-5 in the finals.

Novak Djokovic after winning the 2008 Australian Open has gained lot of confidence, where he defeated Federer in straight sets in the semifinals.And the confidence gained from that victory has sustained him through out the year.If Djokovic can build his game at Wimbledon to an even higher level then he would certainly be an extremely difficult opponent for Federer and Nadal.
He is a highly skilled player and poses a genuine threat on any court.
