Wimbledon has a new Champ! Rafael Nadal ended Roger Federer's incredible five year reign at Wimbledon by winning the longest ever Wimbledon Final.Nadal defeated the five time Wimbledon Champion in a five set thriller match(6-4, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-7(8), 9-7) and became the first man since Bjorn Borg to win the French Open and Wimbledon back to back.Though Roger Federer made an incredible comeback after being two sets down, saved three Championship points, Rafael Nadal withstood the incredible fightback to claim his First Grass Court Grandslam Title.
The defeat ended Federer's hopes of surpassing Bjorn Borg's record of 5 wimbledon titles in a row and also put an end to his 65 match unbeaten streak. The Swiss Star who is still 2 Grandslams short of equalling Pete Sampras record of 14 Grandslam titles took defeat like a true champion.
When asked how did he feel about the final he said"I tried everything, Rafa is a deserving champion, he just played fantastic. It's the worst opponent on the best court. It's been a joy to play here again. It's a pity I couldn't win it but I'll be back next year"
