French Open Final Federer vs Soderling Live

French Open Final Federer vs Soderling Live:

Thirteen time grandslam champion & 3 time French Open finalist Roger Federer is just one match away from a mark into the history when he takes on No.23 seed Robin Soderling of Sweden in final of French Open 2009, as he would be the sixth man to win all the four grandslam titles since Andre Agassi in 1999 & also achieve his long cherished dream of equalling Pete Sampras's all time record of 14 grandslam titles.

Federer is making his 19th appearance in a grandslam final with a 13-5 record(all the five loses coming from Nadal) which equals Ivan Lendl's all time record (8-11) in finals. After the shock exit of the four time French Open Champion Rafael Nadal the way seems to be more smooth but he has shown himself to be quite vulnerable losing six sets enroute to finals the highest he has dropped on his way to a grandslam final.Federer is on incredible record run of 20 grandslam semi-finals or better over the past five years & has not lost to a player outside the Top 5. He is has an amazing 111-0 win-loss record against players ranked outside the Top 5 and 15-8 against Top 5 opponents.

Robin Soderling of Sweden is in his maiden grandslam final & is attempting to become the fourth Swede to capture the Roland Garros title since Sven Davidson (1957) Bjorn Borg (1974-75, '78-81) and Mats Wilander (1982, '85, '88).He stunned the tennis world when he dethroned the King of Clay in 4 sets in the fourth round & also defeated higher seeded players like Davydenko, Gonzalez enroute to final.Soderling will move to a new career-high ranking of No. 12 by reaching the final and If he wins the title, he will break into the Top 10.

Head to Head:
Soderling has never beaten Federer so far in nine matches, he has only won a single set from the Swiss maestro.Federer leads 9-0 all time & 2-0 on clay.
