After the Epic Wimbledon final between Roger Federer & Rafael Nadal last month,which Nadal won eventually, it is time for the next prestigious event of the season to take place, The Beijing Olympics 2008!
The current Olympic Games programme comprises of 35 sports and nearly 400 events.The Tennis event of Beijing Olympics 2008 begins on August 10th & ends on 17th.With the 17 of the top 20 men & 18 of the top 20 women competing in the 2008 Tennis event of Beijing Olympics, it will witness the strongest field ever & will certainly be an event to be watched.World No.1s Roger Federer & Ana Ivanovic will lead the Men's & Women's field respectively.The no of competitors will be a maximum of 172.
But,The question is who will take home Olympic glory?Last time in the 2004 Olympics Athens Nicolas Massu of Chile won the Gold Medal,followed by Mardy Fish & Fernando Gonzalez in a field which consisted of the World's top two ranked players Roger Federer & Andy Roddick.Federer lost Tomas Berdych & Roddick to Gonzalez.
The Olympics games are very different, take a look at the results of the past five olympic tournaments & the chances of the World's top players winning a medal are less.Therefore the outcome in the Olympics is quite unpredictable.
Let's Hope, The 2008 Beijing Tennis Olympics will be an event full of fun, enthusiasm, suspense & excitement.
